PAPERMAN (CARMEN MARÍA GANCEDO)

Paperman short film is an emotional and interesting video for our students. It could be used for 4ºESO, 1ºBachillerato levels.

Since it is a silent film, what we have is a succession of moving images rushing through our eyes.

It is an enriching process to see how students try to predict what it is going to happen and the diverse ways they describe the characters' features and their personality traits according to what they see in the movie. We can devise a whole bunch of activities to cater for the four skills.

While watching this short film, we are planting the seeds of a story. I have done this in class and it is awesome to see the results, the predictions they make can be completely different. We can tell them to write their predictions and then to share them. We can make guesses on how the story will end.

Another activity can be to ask them questions about how they feel when they watch the film. We can talk about the music, the location, the message. These tasks can be scaffolded according to the level of our students.
It is lovely to analyse how they make sense of the "unsaid".
