PHOTO: WIKIPEDIA
Name of the image: Lunch atop a Skycraper. LEVEL: 5th grade of primary. OBJECTIVE: improve oral and writing language and imagination. ACTIVITIES:
First activity:
The teacher writes the following sentences or words on the board and ask students what they think they are going to do.
• New York City.
• 260 feet high.
• Eleven men sitting down.
• Having luch.
• Skyscraper.
Then the teacher ask students to predict different stories using the words and sentences given before.
After putting in common those stories, students will choose one, this one can be created with ideas from different stories. From that story, students will have to draw an image that represent that story.
Second activity:
Now it is time to predict and wonder. We use the constructing stories from an image technique and ask students to create list of “I wonder sentences”.
Now the teacher shows on the screen the picture and ask students to compare with the drawing they have done previously and discuss about them. What those images have in common? What are the differences?
Third activity:
After comparing, students will change some information and create in big group their own “lunch upon a skyscraper” story. Then students can recreate that image in the classroom in different groups and take that new photography “lunch atop a table at school”.
Search online the right information about that image and compare with what they have thought at the beginning.
