I AM DREAMING (BELÉN ZAMANILLO)

 


TITLE: I am dreaming... LEVEL: 5th and 6th grade. OBJECTIVE: To use hypothetical structures and to engage students into speaking in English. TECHNIQUE: Videotelling an advert. VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRCzsiThKyo ACTIVITY:
First, I will tell my students that I have watched a very funny advert that I want to share with them. I can encourage them to guess what it will be about asking them questions such as:
- What product is in the advert? - What are the main characters? - Are there animals in the advert? - What happens? Then, I will play the video but only until the second 6 after the girl says that the dog is having one of his dog's dreams. After that, students have to make predictions about what the dream will be about. I will suggest them that at this point it is where they need to guess the product of the ad. They can use different structures of expressing probality such as:
- It might/may/could be... - I wonder if... Students will share all their ideas. Later on we will finish watching the rest of the advert. We can check if somebody was right about the product. Besides, we can make a following up activity in wich students in groups invent a dream and the other groups have to guess what it is about. They willl give each other clues in order to guess.
