BREAKING RULES (Mª JOSÉ GARCÍA)

Level: this activity is addressed to 4° ESO.

The main objective of the activity is to deal with (breaking) rules as well as to motivate students to make them speak and share their views with their partners.

The language target will be modals of obligation, possibility, prohibition, deduction and expressions to give counter-arguments.

Students will watch the video once to get in touch with it, then they will watch a 2nd time to spot all the things we are told not to do:

1-operate heavy machinery after drinking cough syrup 2- running with scissors 3- crossing police lines 4- swimming after eating 5- too many plugs in appliances 6- staring at the sun 7- using a blender with the top off 8- accepting candies from strangers 9- making sexualised comments to partners 10- drinking expired milk.......

Later, they will comment on those things , times they have broken rules and share their views.

Finally, we will debate on the real meaning of the song : Question everything, take chances, it’s your life so LIVE!!
